Gansu Tianzhu County Central Primary School Solar Central Heating Project

In recent years, with China's “dual carbon” strategy advancing, clean energy applications have become increasingly important, especially in the education sector. Schools, as key places for learning and living, require safe, eco-friendly, and cost-effective heating solutions. Traditional coal-fired or electric heating systems not only consume excessive energy and incur high costs, but also generate significant emissions, posing risks to both the environment and campus safety.

To address this issue, Tianzhu County Central Primary School in Wuwei City, Gansu Province, partnered with Soletks Group to implement a solar central heating project. Completed and put into use in November 2020, the project covers 700 square meters of solar collector area and has become a model case for clean energy heating in local schools.

Project Features

High-Efficiency Solar Collection – The system uses advanced flat-plate solar collectors installed on rooftops and sun-facing areas. Even in cold winters, the system maintains efficient heat output.

Centralized Heating with Smart Control – Heat collected is delivered through a central pipe network to classrooms and dormitories. An intelligent control system adjusts heating output according to outdoor and indoor conditions, ensuring comfort while avoiding waste.

Heat Storage for Continuous Supply – Large-capacity storage tanks accumulate heat during the day and release it at night or during cloudy weather, ensuring uninterrupted heating.

Green and Eco-Friendly – The system eliminates coal use and produces no emissions or noise, achieving zero pollution. Each year, it reduces hundreds of tons of CO₂ and other harmful gases.

Cost-Effective Operation – Powered mainly by solar energy, the system has very low running costs. With a one-time investment, the school enjoys long-term benefits.

Results

Since its operation in 2020, the project has delivered outstanding results:

Comfortable Heating – Indoor temperatures remain stable, creating a warm environment for both study and living.

Reliable and Stable Performance – The system has run smoothly for several heating seasons with minimal maintenance.

Remarkable Energy Savings – The project replaces large amounts of coal each year, significantly cutting emissions.

Demonstration Value – It has set an example for other schools and public institutions in adopting solar heating solutions.

Significance

The project not only improves the quality of life for students and teachers but also demonstrates the feasibility of solar heating in cold northwestern regions of China. It cultivates environmental awareness among students and provides a replicable model for promoting renewable energy in schools, hospitals, and public facilities.

Looking Ahead

Soletks Group plans to continue expanding solar central heating projects in northwestern China, tailoring solutions to local climates and building needs. Through these efforts, the Group aims to contribute to China’s carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals, while supporting the development of green, healthy, and sustainable campuses.
